Message from Our Regent
ELIZABETH CONRAD CHIANG, CHAPTER REGENT
Welcome to the new website of the Captain John Lillard Chapter National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR or DAR). The NSDAR is a service organization that was founded in 1890. The objectives of our society are to promote patriotism, education, and historic preservation. Here are a few ways that we strive to attain these objectives in the local communities of Grant County, Kentucky.

We promote patriotism by honoring our local veterans during special ceremonies. We participate in the Williamstown Veterans Day parade and the Derby Day parade. We purchase American flags to donate to local businesses and the library, as well as handing them out to parade spectators allowing us the opportunity to promote our red, white, and blue.

Education is promoted by having children participate in the Junior American Citizens Essay Contest. We also have given out scholarships for our DAR Good Citizen Award winners. We love to give grants to teachers to help them support their classrooms. Reading to children and promoting adult literacy is also one of our goals.

Historic preservation is seen through our assistance financially and with our physical efforts at Sherman Tavern. We have assisted the tavern by putting together scrapbooks. Several of our members are Friends of Sherman Tavern in Sherman, Kentucky, and assist us by knowing the needs of the tavern and how we can help.
If you or someone you know is interested in joining our organization, we would love to have you! We meet monthly, except during the summer, to promote our objectives. If you would like more information, please contact us. We would be happy to answer any questions.
